Freight transport - more than just driving from A to B

Controlling is delighted: Not only does it come on time and is worthwhile, but it also saves us money. We find: Reliable freight transport from A to B isn’t an artform, it’s common sense. That’s why we don’t just transport tonnages, but quantities of all sizes.

We do this by meticulously planning from the first to the last mile and by optimising international logistics concepts. This always results in a more freedom, lower costs, and more reliable supply chains. We don’t just think on the train tracks, but beyond.

We know the networks, the players, the singularities and the paths in and around Germany. We can do ‘fast and spontaneous’ as well as ‘calculated and constant’ – but always reliable.

In short: What we promise today will happen tomorrow.

We keep logistics on schedule and within budget.

Whether its data coordination from container loading in China, customs handling, or optimisation of logistics chains during loading and unloading. We know every port, every transshipment point and every bottleneck in the transport and loading chain. We don't just drive more efficiently, we plan smarter.

Thinking until the last mile

Thinking until the last mile

Domestic or international freight transport is a basic business that we have mastered with confidence. Our customers value us for conceptual innovation: by thinking through logistics chains right to the end, on both a small and large scale.

Large vehicle fleet and lots of experience

Large vehicle fleet and lots of experience

Almost 40 locomotives move more than 50,000 tonnes a week in and around Germany. We strive for optimisation. We live by reliability and we’re usually ahead of schedule - thanks to our experienced dispatchers, independent specialists and our own specialised workshop, the LOCON Service GmbH.

Durable relations and strong hubs

Durable relations and strong hubs

We travel throughout Germany on fixed routes. Our hubs in Bremen, Hamburg and Pinnow are the backbone of our flexibility. We transport almost all classes of goods, especially in Eastern and Northern Germany and combine rail with truck, ship and air freight.

Uckermark Container Terminal (CTU)

Uckermark Container Terminal (CTU)

The Uckermark Container Terminal in Brandenburg plays a key role in our logistics chains. It is here that we take care of loading and unloading various types of freight, as well as container inspection and on-site repair.

Freight and special transport

Freight and special transport

We take on general cargo, container and bulk goods transports as well as special trains - in addition to scheduled services.

Our own workshop

Our own workshop

We check, maintain and repair our locomotives and cars in our own workshop, LOCON Service GmbH. This not only ensures reliability, but also the ability to test out a wide range of ideas and solutions.

The greatest ideas are born here.

Here, what starts as "impossible" ends up as "Ok, here's how we will do it". Our conference room is where we come together and where some of the smartest logistics concepts are created and developed for leading national and international customers.

Our vehicle fleet for freight transport

Almost 40 locomotives are permanently available in our fleet.

Our workshop, the LOCON Service GmbH in Pinnow, ensures the operational readiness.

And many more miracles to boot.

Locomotives in use: 2

BR 192

5600 kW
83 t
19,9 m
160 km/h

Die Leichte

Unsere Smartrons nutzen wir auf langen Strecken quer durch Deutschland. Eine zukunftsfähige Baureihe in reinem Elektrobetrieb.

Locomotives in use: 3

BR 248 DualMode

2000 kW
90 t
19,8 m
160 km/h max.

The new duality

With this locomotive we are well positioned for the future. Regardless of the tracks, it masters route services in freight transport and construction logistics, in heavy shunting or in follow-up actions with always equally available traction. And thanks to the particulate filter it also leaves a green footprint in diesel mode.

Locomotives in use: 4

DE 18

1.800 kW
90 t
17,00m
120 km/h max.

The Latest One

For heavy transport on flat ground without contact wire and for line services in freight traffic and heavy shunting service.

In construction logistics, it is the preferred one for transports and the transfer of large construction machines and equipment.

Locomotives in use: 2

BR 189

6.000 kW
87 t
19,58m
140 km/h max.

The Strong One

Versatile multi-system E-locomotive, used in heavy and international freight transport - successor to the 152 series

Locomotives in use: 4

BR 214

1.050 kW
61 t
12,3m
100 km/h max.

The Clean One

The diesel-hydraulic BR 214 performs medium-heavy shunting services in construction logistics and freight transport, optionally in multiple traction. The soot particle filter makes it the workplace of choice, in tunnels or in sensitive infrastructures such as the port of Hamburg.

Locomotives in use: 3

BR 187/LMD

5.600 kW
86 t
18,90m
160 km/h max.

The Versatile One

Bombardier's last-mile package makes the E-locomotive 187 even more versatile: it can run on diesel or battery-power, shunt or operate as an E-locomotive on normal routes. It also remains flexible on border traffic with several country packages (train protection, pantographs). A soot particle filter ensures clean performance in the LM version.

Locomotives in use: 4

BR 203.1

1.305 kW
70 t
14,24m
100 km/h max.

The All-Purpose Locomotive

A sovereign all-purpose locomotive with easy handling, especially for construction logistics. The BR 203.1 transports long building material transports as well as filigree shunting. It also runs in the port of Hamburg as a shunting engine. Multiple traction is possible.

Locomotives in use: 3

BR 293

1.050 kW
64-72 t
14,40m
65-100 km/h max.

For connoisseurs and experts

Precise manoeuvring is possible with a good all-round view. It can carry complete trains from connections under the contact wire and is used in construction for ballasting and sleeper laying.

Locomotives in use: 3

BR Class 66

2.350 kW
127 t
21,49m
100 km/h max.

The Heavyweight

Six-axle diesel-E-locomotive for heavy goods transport. Quote from the team: "The locomotive does everything and is indestructible. Only people taller than 175cm struggle in the driver's cab...".

Locomotives in use: 1

BR ER 20

2.000 kW
80 t
19,28m
140 km/h max.

The Double-Headed One

Diesel locomotive with two end driver's cabs, which carries out medium and heavy-duty transports in construction logistics and freight traffic. It also takes over the provision of the trains in the terminals or loading points.

Locomotives in use: 6

BR G1206

1.500 kW
88 t
14,70m
100 km/h max.

The Little Powerhouse

The strong one for construction logistics. We use them for the heavy transport of long rail units; ballast and sleepers.

Locomotives in use: 2

BR 187

5600 kW
84 t
18,90m
140 km/h max.

Simple, but good

Even without the last-mile package, the BR 187 is an excellent mainline locomotive. Our versions can take trains to border stations. For journeys across the borders, vehicles are hitched.

Locomotives in use: 8

BR 193

6.400 kW
90
18,98m
160 km/h max.

„Planning and scheduling are of course the key. But it is only with creativity and teamwork that we can really use and combine all our resources from all traffic. From the loading plan to cost optimisation, we are well ahead of the game.“
